Two picture perfect and historic medieval towns in Tuscany!
This tour will allow you to discover the two most charming towns of southern Tuscany!
Siena was Florence’s arch-rival throughout the middle ages. This UNESCO World Heritage Site charms all those that arrive at its city walls. The medieval streets and famous Piazza del Campo are the stuff of Tuscan dreams. The elegant Gothic facade of its Cathedral is another must see, with artworks by prominent artists such as Ghirlandaio, Pinturicchio, Donatello, and Lorenzo Ghiberti. The guide will explain to you the history of this traditional city including the intriguing Palio – a dangerous horse race held every summer in the main square.
After lunch in a typical Tuscan trattoria we will explore the town of San Gimignano, one of the few medieval Tuscan towns still standing. Situated high on a hill and enclosed by medieval walls, the town dominates the Chianti countryside. Typical Tuscan pines and olive groves surround the fine example of a medieval town.
A full day where you will admire enchanting landscapes, admire stunning cities, learn about their fascinating past, and have the chance to try some of the region’s best wine in a local vineyard as well as lunch.
