Siena, San Gimignano, Chianti, Pisa, Lucca
Forget the city for a day and immerse yourself in the Tuscan countryside to discover its hidden gems, its hills and landscapes. We will leave early in the morning on a comfortable minivan to explore the other cities that make this region famous all over the world. We will start visiting the Medieval Siena, a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, one of the richest towns in the world in terms of art, history and culture.
Your visit includes the shell-shaped Piazza del Campo, where the exciting Palio horse race is held in summer. After a delicious snack, we will continue to San Gimignano. Its 14 towers, one taller than the other, are evidence of the intense competition that existed centuries ago among the powerful families that inhabited this beautifully preserved medieval town. After some free time, we will reach a historic winery in the Chianti region where you can have a nice and relaxed lunch. Taste some typical wines and learn more about wine production.
Back in the van to continue our exploration of Tuscany, next stop is Pisa where you will visit the renowned and iconic Leaning Tower in Piazza dei Miracoli where the elegance of the Church and the Baptistry dominates the space. The last stop of our day-trip is Lucca: take a walk around the narrow cobblestone lanes of the historic city center, protected by the imposing Renaissance walls. Broad, tree-lined pathways along the tops of these massive 16th and 17th-century ramparts are popular for strolling and cycling.
